At April Business After Hours, Valle Verde Shows Its True Colors: Green
The fortunate ones who braved the blustery weather on April 21 for Business After Hours at Valle Verde retirement community were well-rewarded for their efforts. While being delightfully serenaded by talented singer/songwriter Jaret Campisi, they indulged in a lavish feast of local and organic cuisine in honor of Earth Day.
The appropriately named Valle Verde ("green valley" in Spanish) went all out for the monthly Chamber mixer, dubbed "Party for the Planet," with scrumptious passed hors d'oeuvres, canapés, delicious desserts and live entertainment. Although the planned facility tours did not take place due to intermittent rain, Executive Director Ronald Schaefer shared about the myriad ways this eco-conscious community goes green every day of the year:
- Solar panels - 52,000 watts
- Solar hot water heaters & pool heating
- ENERGY STAR® home appliances
- LED and compact fluorescent lights
- Sustainable and water-conserving landscaping
- Consuming local produce
- Preserving a large piece of wooded open space in perpetuity
- And more to come!
No party is complete without party favors, and Community Relations Manager Jena Jenkins encouraged each attendee to take home an oak tree seedling on their way out for planting.
Exhibiting in "Trade Show Row" this month were Chamber members Kathy Gruver, Healing Circle Massage; Ameravant Web Design; Del Hegland, New York Life; and Lindsey Eltinge Photography. Lindsey will be offering $60 professional head shots at the next B2B Breakfast on Tues., May 4, sponsored by Citrix Santa Barbara...make sure to register by noon, Fri. April 30.
The Chamber's newest Ambassador also made her public debut at Valle Verde - Miss Sabrina Elizabeth Avolio, one month old, with proud parents Hallie and Paul of Latitude 34 Technologies.
The next Business After Hours is Wed., May 19 at Rancho La Patera & Stow House, from 5:00-7:00pm. Don't miss this fabulous event!

This was an outstanding event! The food was amazing and it was all made at Valle Verde! They really have exquisite cuisine. This Business After Hours had a great turnout and proved to be very informative.
